| In My Own Words
My name is Oliver Smith and I am 6 years old and I have Cerebral Palsy. If I have this operation it will make me have legs like other people in the world. My legs will be super duper! We need to raise some money to pay for the operation. I can't play football and I always fall over. I don't want my splint anymore or anymore stretches. Thank You for reading it Oliver |

Oliver'Story Oliver was born to parent's Matt & Tracy on 24th August 2003. Oliver was born 2 weeks early and weighed 6lb 4oz. He was a lovely little boy who liked nothing better than sitting in a chair, watching the world go by, with his thumb in his mouth and holding his blanket. Oliver is full of determination, so much so that his condition wasn't confirmed until a little before his 3rd birthday. Oliver started to walk at 18 months but by 2 ½ we knew something wasn't quite right. We had noticed that he was still quite unstable and that he tended to drag his left foot while trying to walk. This is where this journey started. It can only be described as a rollercoaster of emotions since that dreaded day we were told that our son had Cerebral Palsy and that there was no cure. The only thing that could be done for him was regular physiotherapy and botox therapy to ease the symptoms. Oliver has just got on with it and dealt with everything that life has thrown at him without complaining ( well maybe a little.......OK quite a lot!). He has refused to let his condition stop him trying things that other children take for granted. He was told that it would be doubtful that he would ever be able to ride a bike but through his determination and a lot of teaching and encouragement from his big brother Thomas, he had wheels!! He may still have stabilizers and go half the speed of the other kids but he is happy that he conquered it and would rather Thomas be proud of him than win any races. Oliver is now big brother to Amelie and his condition is normal life to her. At physio time, Amelie will lie down on the floor next to him and ask for her stretches to be done, she will also grab his splint from the cupboard and try to put it on. Oliver is very proud and happy that his sister wants to be like him. Oliver is an intelligent, determined and loving little boy who deserves this chance of a more normal life. He is an inspiration to us and we are proud to call him our son. Thank You for taking the time to visit Oliver's site and for helping our cause Matt & Tracy |
